Frozen Past was one of the best books I’ve read! It’s fast paced and every page is full of anticipation. Even though it creeped me out at some points, I couldn’t seem to put it down. I shared this book for my school’s annual Best Book Awards and it came 4th. I hope that this movie will become a movie someday, that’ll be wicked.

Your writing and captivating story telling is beyond the best suspenseful and realistic I have ever enjoyed reading… YOU most certainly grab your reader at the first page and hold on tight.. Your writing is Raw, Realistic and Not for the faint of hesrt… BUT, for any true inspiring Suspense Thrill Reader, YOU are the BEST!!!

I cannot say enough how much I was captivated into this book… Your characters are real, the horrific happenings are so sereal and one is actually holding their breath at times.. I can’t wait to start your next book… Thank you.

Whenever I see a free book, I cringe and harbor low expectations. However, at the rate I consume books I simply can’t pass it up.

When I started Frozen Past, I wasn’t expecting much. I wasn’t expecting to have a physiological response (heartbeat quickening, and so on) to this book, but I did. I was also very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing, complex character developement, and overall tone.

    Hi Hale,

Good day to you. Before I speak about you, let me introduce myself to you. My name is Karthik and I’m from India (Bangalore). I’m from that part of India where the emphasis given on English is less. Of course we love our mother tongue more than any other language. Since I was studied in regional language I’m not good at English and even today I’m poor in English. The only way I can learn English is through watching some hollywood movies. Lately I starting making out the plot but failed in understanding or to catch the conversations. But I don’t know how I learned it and can write this much.

Well, that’s pretty much introduction for a dumbass like me. I recently installed kindle app in my phone and was searching for some free stuff. There I found “FROZEN PAST”. Looked at it and said ok let me download and keep it. Mr.Hale I did a mistake. I opened the book and I couldn’t control myself to put it down. It just blew me away. (Sorry if my english sucks, I told you before!!). I read hardly 2-3 books in my regional language and 2 english books by Chetan Bagat. But you are my first foreign author I loved to be a fan for your writing. Your Frozen Past fabric is well weaved with right kind of threads. It took 3 days to complete the book. But till today the characters are popping out in my head. I can imagine how Virginia or The Woods might look. The Epilogue is just awesome. I was able to catch hold of Patrick in the half way but your style of writing gave me no chance on him. Wow, I can’t just believe my self writing my first review on the first book I read. It will remain as one of the best book in my memory and let me tell you till I die I will spread this word to everyone. I”m your fan Mr. Hale. A big salute to you. I always wanted to be a writer. You provoked me with your book. I admire you. What else I can say about you. You made every character and the scene lively and made us feel its happening write out there and we are part of it. What a feel. I can’t stop myself stop typing but I have to. Otherwise this comment will become blog. If I can get your mail id I can write pages to you. Hope you will provide with one. I appreciate if you do so. Mr.Hale a big fan charged up to go through your rest of the books. (Pls don’t laugh at me if I have wrote anything grammatically wrong. Just I wanted to express my happiness towards you).

Reading “Frozen in Ice” came across Jimmy Howard’s name; quite a shock. Real people usually don’t appear in fiction. I knew him and a few of his cohorts some 60 years ago at 1st MarDiv CampPendleton.

Yes, sometimes in fiction real historic figures are found. And Jimmy Howard, though not known by the masses, is a huge figure in history in my eyes. As a CMH awardee with a ship named after him, he has a definite place in our history. Email my at richard at richardchaleauthor dot com Popeyesr and I’ll let you know why I put him in there. I wanted to thank you for your generosity of starting me with my own Richard C Hale library. It means a lot to see someone writing for the pleasure of the storytelling and the characters. I have since purchased everything I could by you. I read the first three of the Jaxon Jennings series and purchased the fourth but can’t start until I finish the Jake Townsend series. I loved the blank series and read them like eating candy. Your love of the characters and of life is very impressive. You must be a romantic at heart:) Your knowledge of friendships between the children as well as the adults is very insightful. I now have an author that is like a friend and neighbor. Sooo, I would compare you to Stephen King except fresher. Thank you again for making my reading enjoyable and exciting.

I loved Frozen Past a lot; it is interesting from front to end, but I can’t help but wish to know what happened to Ellie and Luke. The main reason being that going into the story, they are the first characters I met and felt for. It would be interesting if they reemerged as villains or sidekicks. Hi Richard,

Just wanted to say that I have read all the Jacob Jennings books and the Blank series and absolutely love your style of writing. The blurring of the lines between the different series to create a whole is something I really enjoy, backtracking through my mind to the references.

With Lincoln the first book, Blank was my favourite. I believed in him and the writing wholeheartedly. When the story went dimensional shall we say, I thought fondly of the young Linc but held on for the ride and was glad I did.

Just about to start the Jake Townsend books and looking forward to more of the same. Although at the rate I am reading I am going to run out of your books soon!

I live in Sydney Australia but feel like I know Jacksonville and Orange Park now.

    Thanks for the excellent writing.
